These are sometimes difficult isses to talk about and  feel comfortable seeking therapy for.  Pelvic floor physical therapy can help release the restrictions in the pelvic floor muscles which may be causing your pain.  Other areas of your body may also be referring pain to your pelvic area and the pelvic floor may refer pain to other areas of your body ie. lower back pain, gluteal pain, hamstring pain.

The therapist will perform a thorough whole-body evaluation and assessment before determining that your pelvic floor needs treatment.  Treatment options will be discussed and approved by you before therapy is initiated.

Diagnoses include:

  • Chronic pelvic pain syndrome
  • Prostatodynia Levator Ani syndrome
  • Pudendal Neuralgia
  • Chronic Prostatitis
  • Rectal spasms (Proctalgia Fugax)

Treatment includes:

John F. Barnes Myofascial Release approach for the pelvic floor, patient education, biofeedback technique for muscle strengthening or relaxation, home exercise program.
